In current times, the full breadth and aspirations of human reason are challenged in many ways. Science and technology contribute to such a challenge in at least four reasons. First epistemologically, anthropologically, ethically and on the level of meaning and values. Given the authoritativeness of science nowadays, the above points run the risk to present scientific activity as a harmful enterprise, or at least to show it under a problematic stance.
