Doctorate in Psychology
Presutti & DMU Academic Team, Fr Robert. Doctorate in Psychology. 2017
The Institute for the Psychological Sciences of Divine Mercy University, has as major goal the integration of a Catholic view of the human person with the best science and practice of psychology and clinical mental health counseling. Therefore, it has developed over the years particular academic programs as the best way of accomplishing this integration and forming a new generation of psychologist and clinical mental health counselors in this integrated approach. Consequently, the academic programs of DMU, both in the school of psychology and in the School of Counseling, seek to integrate catholic anthropology into teaching and practice in a number of different ways. Firstly, there are specific courses in philosophy and theology for a better understanding of the Catholic anthropology. Secondly, that viewpoint is highlighted throughout all the courses of the program. Thirdly, it is reinforced through clinical training preparation and practice. The description of all three academic programs of DMU (Doctorate in Psychology, Masters of Science in Psychology, and Masters of Sciences in Counseling) and the descriptions for their respective courses illustrate the integrative approach. The three levels of integration are visible throughout the program.
